Music To Eat

An Eclectic Gastronomy of Sound

Winter Hues

New Mix Uploaded to Mixcloud.
(Track list beneath picture)

Like autumn, winter is a contemplative time. Bears spend the season in hibernation, and we humans tend to spend more time indoors as well. Winter can be tinged with melancholy, as the world outside the window becomes shaded in browns and greys and life sometimes seems on hold. We can also greet winter with, if not always open arms, at least acceptance. It’s all in the “way that you see” (to paraphrase Bruce Cockburn).  As Essra Mohawk sings on the last track of this mix: “I’m ready for the Winter / Come blanket me with your snow / Come on icy breezes / I’m ready to stand up / To 10 below / Hello winter”.
