An Eclectic Gastronomy of Sound

The Elephant in the Room: The Singing of Robbie Basho

Have you heard of Robbie Basho? A lot of people haven’t, but he was one of the most unique musicians of the last 50 or so years. An amazing guitarist, and fascinating person. Grass-Tops Recording has been reissuing some of his work and I’ve written 2 articles about Basho for them. The first one (“Mood is Colored Air”), on his ability to see sounds in colors, was published a few months ago. The second one is up now and deals with “the elephant in the room” – his controversial singing style and voice.
