Song of the Day #2 – “Ooh! Mr. Fripp” by Robert Fripp & The League of Gentlemen

“Ooh! Mr. Fripp” by Robert Fripp & The League of Gentlemen (1996, recorded 1980)

From the gloriously titled album Thrang Thrang Gozinbulx, an official live bootleg (although if it’s official, how is it a bootleg?). Purposeful, intricate, cerebral, and fun.   Kinda like a less proggy 70s Genesis instrumental in some ways, and Fripp’s guitar reminds me at times here of the sequenced synthesizers in The Who’s “Baba O’Reilly” (which in itself was inspired by Terry Reilly’s “A Rainbow in Curved Air.”  “Its all one song!,” as Neil Young once said.)
