Song of the Day #19 – “Renaissance Fair” by The Byrds

“Renaissance Fair” – from Younger Than Yesterday by The Byrds (1967)

I like Bruce Eder of the Allmusic Guide’s description of this song as “a perfect synthesis of the group’s original electric-folk sound evolved into a new, more contemporary form of music and songwriting, almost hippie-folk music.”  I would say it’s not almost hippie-folk music, it’s pretty much there.  Still has a medieval (well, renaissance I guess) quality to it, chiming Rickenbacker guitars like church bells on a sunny morning.
